Uncommon Uses of Common Things….Baby Wipes

As you know I have started a series of using Common Things for Uncommon Purposes. I already wrote one post of this series before and many people liked it. This is the second post of this series. I hope you will like this too.
                 I am using baby wipes ever since my kids were babies. They are grown up now but baby wipes are indispensable item in my shopping list.
                           Besides its obvious use of cleaning baby’s bottom & face, they are my best buddy in emergency. They are very convenient & make life a lot easier with their nontraditional uses.

Art Lover’s Best Friend

If you love scrapbooking or painting then they are terrific in cleaning paint, or glue from your fingers. Your rubber stamp will be like new if you clean it with baby wipes.  If your tiny tots are discovering their creative talents, you can wipe glue, colors or clay from their hands.

Ideal travel companions

Don’t forget to keep a box of baby wipe in travel. Use them to clean sudden spill at your leather seats. They are great for wiping up your dirty & greasy hands if you’ve to mess with the car or change a tire. Freshen up baby’s face & hands  as well as your own in a tiring journey or after eating something.

Remove stray hairs from pets

 If you are fed up with your pet’s hair spreading all over your carpet & furniture, make it a daily routine to wash him with baby wipe. It’ll make him smell fresh & nice & your home free of pet hairs.

Uncommon Uses of Common Things….Toothpaste Part 2

I hope you have enjoyed reading the previous part of this toothpaste post.If you have tried them then do share with us. Is that really worked for you or not?I love to hear you. Today I am writing the end part of this post and hope you’ll like this one too.


Removes Scuff Marks


To remove scuff mark from sneakers, wipe clean any dirt with a damp cloth. Apply toothpaste & scrub with a toothbrush & rinse or clean with damp cloth. Black & dirty marks will be removed & your shoes will look nice again.


Hang Posters on the Wall


If you want to hang your favorite poster without damaging your wall, put small amount of toothpaste on each corner & between the edges of the poster. It’ll be easy to hang & remove whenever you want.


Nail Holes Filler



If you have ugly nail holes in your walls don’t worry. Your toothpaste will fill it in jiffy & you can paint over it when it dries.

Uncommon Uses of Common Things….Toothpaste Part 1

We use toothpaste, oils, different vegetables and more things every day. . These are usual things which are generally found in each household but most of us don’t know their unusual use. To help you out I am starting a new series which would help you to use usual items into unusual way. I am sure you all will be surprised.

           So the first item in my list is Toothpaste (We use it daily to clean our teeth). I will post it into 2 parts so you can learn and try these tricks properly.

         Toothpaste is a very common household item. We can get toothpaste in many colors and flavors. It meant for cleaning teeth and fighting cavity but its chemical composition makes it an amazing multifunctional product.

Important : For these tips & tricks use non gel non fancy white tooth paste.

Clean Crayon Marks from Walls

         Your tiny tot artists make your wall or painted furniture their canvas for artwork. Don’t worry. Just rub a little toothpaste with damp cloth and fine abrasive of toothpaste will remove the mark. Rinse with water. Though it’s safe to use on walls and furniture, it’s advisable to test a small area. Check after 24 hours and if it’s fine than remove marks from larger area.

Clean Piano Keys

       Do you have well used piano with yellow and darker key tops? Scrub with some toothpaste and soft cloth, than wipe with damp cloth. Buff dry with soft cloth for brighter key tops.

Clean Your Clothe Iron Plate

           Toothpaste can clean the bottom plate of your clothe Iron which tend to get scorched, or marked with melted fabric burned while ironing. Rub toothpaste on the cool iron, leave for a few minutes than scrub with a cloth. Rinse it. Now heat the iron and rub it over an old cloth.

Clean Silverware

You can clean and polish any kind of silver with toothpaste. Dab some on your silverware and rub with clean soft cloth to bring back the sparkle.


Deodorize Plastic ware


You can deodorize plastic bottles and container which kept closed for long or used for strong smelling food. Brush it with toothpaste, leave for some minutes and rinse away the smell with water.

Goggle’s Defogger

If you have toothpaste in your home than no need to buy costly goggles defogger. Rub a dab in each lenses and rinse. It’ll be crystal clear. But don’t rub vigorously as it can scratch the lenses.


Mirror Defogger

Fogged bathroom mirror is very irritating if you’ve to use it just after shower for saving or applying lotions. Next time before you step in shower, apply toothpaste on mirror and wipe it. You’ll get a clear shinning mirror after you finish your bath.

I have seen many people who just try to fill their plate to the maximum even if they can’t eat that much. As a result, lots of food gets wasted without any consumption.

We should never leave food in our plate. We should take food a little less than we feel like eating. Most of the time we finish with the little amount of food that we have taken at the beginning and we don’t require more. Even if we need more, we may take it again. So what is the point to completely fill our plate the first time?

         Those people who just waste food by leaving in the plate must think of those people who don’t have enough food for even once a day. If they’ve a lot of money to waste in this way, then they should try to help and eliminate hunger from our beautiful planet.

Protien Enriched Chicken Soup

This post is in response to one of my visitors Satyajit who asked me for protein enriched soup in his comment.
                Chicken is highly rich in protien which is essential for healthy body. Protien is neccessary for healthy muscles because our muscles are partly made of it. Besides making muscles, it also helps in building skin,nail & hair. Protein helps to fight disease by keeping the immune system of our body function properly.
             So here the recipe of protien enriched chicken soup

 from the book titled The Foolproof Cookbook For Brides Bachelors & Those Who Hate Cooking by my favourite writer Rohini Singh.

Ingredient

1 onion,finally chopped
1/2 teaspoon grated ginger
2 cloves
1-1/2 tbalespoons of oil or butter
1 small stick of cinnamom
A few peppercorns
Green chillies finely chopped
2-3 chicken necks,caracasses & other tiny pieces
1 good piece chicken(optional)

Method

Heat oil or butter in a pressure cooker. Add some cloves,cinnamom & peppercorns. Fry for a few seconds then add finely chopped onion & green chillies. Fry till the onion starts turning brown. Now add grated ginger salt & chicken pieces & fry till the chicken begins to brown.Now add 2-1/2 cups of water ,close the pressure cooker & after the first whistle reduce heat & keep on fire for the next 30 minutes. Open the cooker, when pressure reduce & stain the soup. Take the meat off from the good pieces of chicken & chop it. Add them to the soup & serve hot.

Variation : Chicken Noddle Soup

After straing the soup & adding chopped chicken to it ,put it back on the fire, bring to a simmer & drop in a small handful of broken noddles. Cook about 6 minutes or till the noddle are tender..
                            Finely chopped fresh coriander added to this soup before serving makes a delightful addition.
